ABOUT
Rikhert factory - an architectural landmark which is located in the historical part of Kyiv and belongs to industrial heritage. In 2019 our team proposed revitalization project in order to save this significant building.
HISTORY
The building that we see today was built in 1908, on the previously purchased territory of the beer-mead brewery. As the result, this factory became the property of the Richert family, already wellknown entrepreneurs in Kiev. The new building of the brewery was designed by the famous architect Nikolai Kazansky. Facades are lined with very spectacular and beautiful lace brickwork. The plant finally ceased operations in 2014. Today the building is abandoned in disrepair.
TARGET
The Rikhert factory and the associated areas can become an attractive and comfortable public, recreational, cultural, commercial center for residents of nearby residential areas and future residents of residential complexes constructed in neighboring areas.
CONCEPT
If favorable conditions for citizens will be created – they will more actively stretch out into the street. Firstly, it will have a good effect on their health and emotional state, secondly, it will make the area safer, since the crowd is a guarantee of security, and thirdly, a large flow of people will create ideal conditions for doing business.
FUNCTIONALITY
PUBLIC SPACE
Public spaces should become a venue for festivals, fairs, concerts and other cultural events, as well as a place where people can relax, socialize, play sports, organize picnics, and spend time with beloved ones. The concept of territory implies flexibility, versatility and adaptability of spaces.
DESIGN
- Demolishing all the annexes that impede the perception of the historical building;
- Restoring the main building of the complex, bring it to the original look inside and outside;
- Providing the necessary technical solutions, such as elevators and ramps for low-mobility groups of visitors;
- New buildings should not interfere with the perception of the main building.
